Question about new Excalibur 100.

I just got a new Excalibur 1000. I am used to using an Explorer II.
The first time out on the beach I noted that as I was hunting in
auto sensitivity I would get some very discrete changes in the frequency of the base tone.
Not like hits, just changes in the frequency of the tone that would stay for a while.
Is this a result of the sensitivity changing as the soil changes or something else? I'm just trying to understand the machine.

Mine does it too.
In the manual it says it is just letting you know the last target it discriminated against. I just hate when it is louder so I wave my shovel near it to reset it back to normal tone.
