I think the max is a very deep detecting machine. I find it pulling things out of places that i thought were empty. But it is not a simple machine. I've owned other detectors that would lock on with rock solid vdi numbers. Max rarely does that. So tones are really important. My question is: i detect old railroad watering holes that are covered in rusty tin. So if im in zero mode with iron disc at 35 and i get a high tone and flip iron audio on and the signal is in the middle of iron, do i dig? Or should i move on. There is so much rusty metal, you can't dig it all.
