Question About Large Cent Target ID Numbers

A couple days ago I was field hunting an old house site and found an 1834 Large Cent. This is the second Large Cent from this site, the first was an 1841. The 1841 rang up a solid 12-46 and was almost on the surface. The 1834 was only about two inches deep but rang up at a solid 1-47. Just wondering how common it is for a Large Cent to ring up in the 1-47 range. I thought sure I had big silver but I'm still happy with the cent.

Not really uncommon, the FE numbers jump around a lot......I have dug many coins that come in with 01 as the FE number, silver, wheats, even had nickels at 01-12
I dont pay much attention to the FE number if the tone is good I just dig it.

Especially if the target is; dry ground, deep, on edge, next to iron or other metal, nail, coin or junk, which is really at least half the time. The sound is your best indicator, then if you swing and investigate from different angles and you see the ID reading getting close to the same numbers a few times, or if you take a bit of dirt off the top check again

For me, if its easy to dig and the sound is right I dig it to see, particularly if im in an area that produces OLD coins.
