question about gold bug se

how good is the gold bug se at hitting thin gold chains? would it compare to a tesoro tiger shark? i do mainly beach/water detecting.

Donald,

I have a Gold Bug SE and it works very well in the wet salt sand here in NJ. Haven't test any gold chains yet. Are you going to be beach hunting at all this weekend ? If so, send me a PM and we can maybe meet up and I will bring the Gold Bug so you can try it out.

I may be going early tomorrow or Sunday for a few hours so let me know if you are heading anywhere.

I have the Cabellas version and Have only detected on fresh water beaches I also have a sand shark The gold bug can hit small items the shark misses Ive only found one gold chain it was very fine and weighed 2.5 grams it was only about 2" down but I got it with disc set at 30 and using the 5"coil. Ive also found earrings with it that I cant read on my sand shark. I dont know about the tiger shark. Hope this helps.:beers:
