question about F-75

I do most of my relic hunting in all metal/motion. I am wondering if it is normal to get readings from 6 to 13 all the time. it seems i get some sort of reading in that range just about every swing of the coil, and it is a solid sound. I have not dug many of these signals, but the ones I do is usually a rusty nail, very small. what can I do to eliminate the signals. Any help is appreciated, and any good settings for relics are appreciated.

Thank you

Lloyd,
Wmsbgdigger

In all metal you are going to get those signals. With the little bit of relic hunting that I actually do, I will dig a few of those lower readings just to see, but usually dig everything from 20 readings up. Although I do use all metal some, I like the je and de modes and run sen. as high as possible, in my ground, mid to upper 90's, and 0 disc. In really heavy nail infested sites, I use de, disc. 6 and 1 or 2 tone. Good luck and HH jim tn

The 6 to13 signals are Iron. Your detector is telling you the truth. If you hunt in All Metal then the Iron WILL register , But that`s not a bad thing because it tells you that there has been occupancy or human activity at one stage . Its when your not getting readings that its time to worry.
In AM only dig targets above 20 and good positive sounding each way targets as always dig .

I use All metal "motion" mainly in "quieter" areas.
Try PF mode, Disc 25, Sens 80, 2 tone. Do not dig anything under 20 on your screen and only dig each way REPEATABLE e/way signals.
BUT! Any targets that are clicking or spitting are Iron even though may register above 20. Its the POSITIVE each way repeatable signals you want. Try taking a small high grade bit of silver along with you . Then every 30 minutes run your coil over it . THAT is the exact sound your listening for. Train your ears every half hour on that ,to get yourself into knowing that precise sound.
I also Ground balance my detector every half hour by fast grabbing. i find its very important to keep a check on the mineralization levels below me. It doesn`t hurt non to do this .
Hope this helps in some small way.

Hi Guys
I have written on this before and you may want to try this. I have been detecting for over 34 years but when I got my F 75, one of the first to come out, a little retraining is in order. I have dug a few more gold coins out of ' hunted out camps" that have been pounded for 40 years..Just last Dec we[ my buddy] and I dug 3 $1 gold coins out of the iron. My settings with F 75 1st gen was ---O disc, 4 tones, je if possible if not de and all the sens you can run. Yes you will have chatter and background noise. I have used AM but but in disc you can determine more about the target.. I dug one gold coin out of a area just full of nails, most likely a hut site that was build on top of ammo boxes, so hence the nails. Reason I dug---- in O disc you are hearing everything, sometimes very crazy, but you can tell if there is a co located non ferrous target next to the iron or laying over or under that IRON. You can try this for yourself, lay a nice size nail, spike type or some other rusty iron on the ground, lay a small gold ring or dime next to it..If you are running in my settings yes you will get the iron low grunt but as you circle the target you will most of the time get a tweak of one the other tones, these you must dig. 50% of the time you will have a good target co located that you would have missed in AM and most certainly in disc of 20 or more. You will also get fooled some of the times but the rewards are greater than just making a few extra digs in a day.Once you have found what I have said as true and you will your confidence will skyrocket. With the advent of the dd coil and Fishers high clock speed processor you are now able to dig what every one else left behind. If you have a regular coil , co planer or whatever, put it on your detector do the nail test with it and see if you can pick up that target that is co located, you will when you get it away from the IRON more than 6-8" is the average and some machines are even more. So that is the main reason the dd with its unique hunting pattern gets those targets. There are also areas that if the ground is really hot, this ground will shift your disc of the target. In Appomattox, VA hunting in AM your better be digging targets that are 9 and above, for you will be digging bullets and buttons at that reading and above. In area such as that you have to forget what the ID is telling you because of the ground. YES you will dig some shallow target that may read good but that is not the norm. Even in that hot ground I still try to run in Disc same settings but lower sens. You have to remember the F 75 will always try to up average a target but if the iron is too much and the target is a small non ferrous it may not be correct. That is why 0 disc will always give you the advantage, yes you can use disc of 6, this will give you some chatter or snip or broken sounds on small iron as a see Thu, but noting is like hearing it all. Your EARS are the best disc for a target, and you will become a better hunter because of it...The above I must mention is only true on using the 11dd coil on either the F 75 or F70, 2 of the gold coins were found with the F70 using the 11dd coil. The coins can be seen in the Fisher world treasure news page 16 . I would write more but I have no time left, oh, in an air test a 1 dollar gold reads 24 but that is not gospel, mine in the nails was high teens and Bob's were in the high 40's and I was very surprised it was a dollar when I dug it. Back to your ears as being king of disc and not id. As noted the ground can and does change disc and ID display. Sorry for the long post. If you have any questions I'll try to answer them

You must be hiting on nails that is what AM does I would go to DE mode and disc at about 6 or seven and see if you find more targets.
