question about excall 800

I purchased a used excall last August and I love it.But I thought I read something last summer on the forum about apllying silicon somewhere to prevent water leaks. I do notice that when I unscrew my battery pack that there is some type of gaskat or something that appears to be loose. Any help with this or any other tips would be appreiciated. I'm planning on getting in the lake this Sunday and Monday and I don't want to do anything to harm the machine. HH@ THANKS TO ALL!

There is a black plastic gasket on the battery connector. Make sure it's clean and smooth. It presses up against the battery to keep water from getting to the battery contact points. You should not need to apply silicone (rubber sealant) to it. Minelab recommends applying some silicone grease to the contacts but I have never done this. So far I've not experienced any problems with my 13 year old Excalibur.
