I was recently watching some metal detecting videos and this one caught my attention. It was about some of the different types of detectors that we all use and the different levels of EMI that each one emits. This guy had a meter that measured different levels of EMI when they were in use. On a numeric scale, he said that a safe level was about an 8. He checked a couple different detectors and measured each on in use. The first one measured an 8 to 9 and the other one measured between a 35 to 50 on his meter. He said the longer the exposure, the more effect with the EMI .
When I detect, it's mostly all day. I don't really want to tell everyone what detectors this guy was testing other than the higher the frequency, the more exposure you get. I don't know if anyone has done any research in this area. I know that there is someone out there who has a lot of knowledge about EMI and long term exposure affects. It would benefit everyone on this forum if they could share some of this knowledge and advice pertaining to this topic.
Thanks.
