Question about digging a target?

Nock

New member
Has any body dug to recover a target and dug down to a haxardous object like an electrical line or anything like that, that could be a danger to yourself? Just curious if such things might happen. Nock

I have dug down and hit copper tubing coming from a propane tank.

Have never hit anything like that, but being a former electrician I always trace an object out with my detector. If its long and thin I leave it alone, especially if it's headed toward some kind of out-building.

Irrigation line at a foot and I Trace signals a little further now. As much so I don't dig a foot to a pipe as for saftey.

I have already dug a hole and found a underground power line, and I have not even been detecting for 3 weeks. This can be a dangerous sport guys, your digging and come across a underground beehive, powerline, and pipes. Careful out there! :detecting::detecting:

You are usually going to know when you have something like an electrical line under your coil because you'll get a continual line of signal. Something thought caught me by surprise yesterday while swinging my 70, was a screw cap that I recovered. It had a couple of inches of jagged glass still attached! I was lucky that it was pointing more downward.

I too have found a screw caps with jagged glass attached and have dug into broken glass many times. It always pays to be careful when digging a target. That is why I always carry a small double-walled plastic pouch connected to my belt, to carry out any trash and especially anything that might be dangerous to the public...

I dug this fully charged round up yesterday. It could have been a dangerous situation if I had hit the primer with the digging tool. I also found an abandoned (????? you can never be sure) electrical conduit. Always be careful when digging. You never know what your digging tool will hit on.
