Question about cross hair movement

I find on a lot of occasions my cross hair moves across the top of my smartfind screen from coin area to the border of the mask which is set at 22 sometime the cross hair will lock in the dime quarter position and the sounds are always high. What causes this to happen? Also the same thing can happen on a nickel reading with the right tone for a nickel. Any info will be helpful

It very well could be a deep coin on edge...coin partially masked by iron...coin on the brink of detection depth, etc...to name a few. Also please be aware if you use an SE that the cursor can and will recat a little than the explorer xs and explorer 2. Also because you run the iron mask at 22 instead of a moe open screen...that bouncing/walking crosshair might not mean the same thing. There is a ton of links and posts out there from good hunters like Bryce-IL...Mike Moutray...charles upstate NY...etc to name a few... so do a search on their past posts. I hunt with Bryce often and he uses the same iron mask 22 setting as you do...and so do I. Good luck with your hunts. Just remember IF you uze a different iron mask setting than someone else does in their charts...graphs...etc...the cursor can and probably will react differently than their graphs show. Bryce had some posted at one time for iron mask 22 and charles had some great info for a more open iron mask.
