Question about control box setup

This might seem like a dumb question...but when you put the cover over the control box when it's attached to the shaft...how are you supposed to strap the Velcro when the arm cuff
Is in the way? Can someone maybe send me a pic of how it's supposed to work

The factory black cover is made to be used several different ways, hip mount, shaft mount and chest mount. Now for shaft mount that Velcro piece is not used as the cover just slides on the control box and the reason the slit was put in the cover. Now when you hip mount and chest mount the Velcro piece is used to cover up that slit to help hold the control box in the bag.

So the cover just stays loose on the control box when it's shaft mounted?

No, here is what Minelab says on page 8 of the GT manual:

"Note: Weather Protection - The hipmount bag
(available as an accessory item) is designed so
that it can be used to weatherproof your control box
while you are detecting in inclement weather. The hipmount bag is designed to protect the control
box while still on the shaft as well as in the hipmount configuration.

The control box is positioned into the hipmount bag with the slot for the mounting bracket positioned
at the back. The velcroed panel is then wrapped across the top of the stem."

Unfortunately, the armcuff is in the way of the Velcro panel to hold the bag closed. I would use a couple of Velcro strips to hold the two sides together. I would think that would work, but don't know for sure as I've never used a Sovereign on the shaft, only hipmounted due to the weight.

Hope this helps...

When I was using the cover on the control box while shaft mounted, I put the Velcro strap across the shaft just in front of the arm cuff.
If you place it on side ways instead of length ways, it will help secure the cover on the end where the cable attaches to the control box.
If you are using the cover on the control box and not shaft mounted, then you place the cover on length ways to attach it all along the split.

That's what I ended up doing but I'm glad you mentioned it
