Question about coils for GTI 1500

Blink

Member
I have one of the GTI 1500's with the 9.5" scorcher imaging coils and am wondering what the difference is between the new 9.5" proformance imaging coil and the scorcher. Has anyone changed from the scorcher to the proformance coil and what difference did you find. Do you get any more depth out of the proformance coil? Any info. will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Blink

I don't have an answer, Blink, but I am considering a GTI-1500. So any answers you get will help me, too.

The new coil is more stable and sensitivity can be run higher, slight edge in depth, and it's tough as nails, and it doesn't false if you bump it against something.

I don't know the difference in the two coils in question, but what I
DO know is that it will do everything but cook your breakfast. I have
been using one for quite some time; and it's ALL I personaly will
ever want in a Metal Detector.

PS
I don't work for them either. LOL

You should never base the purchase of a detector or a coil on depth. Depth is a myth for selling detectors and bragging sessions. 99% of all dropped coins are well within the reach of most detectors out there. If you're hunting for buried objects then you will need the biggest coil you can find.

Your detector as is will get targets at 8-10 inches plus and you won't improve on that much by switching to a coil of equal or similar size.

I made the switch a year ago mainly because of its stability and design. I was always afraid I'd poke a hole in the white shell of the coil when searching in rough territory! Now I have a spare coil in the almost impossible case that I break the new one!

Thanks guys for your comments, I think I will stay with the scorcher for awhile, I was just wondering about the difference in the two coils.
