Question about beach hunthing

Does everyone wait til the beach clears out to hunt or do you go around them. the beaches here get so crowded that it becomes very difficult with everyone still on the beach

early and late is good....i use the 20 foot rule in dry sand...also if in dry sand be mindful of which way the wind is blowing so as to not blow sand on people while sifting targets....if anyone gives you the look, just move on.... in the water you can get a little closer and still not be invading a persons space..... some beaches have rules on times you can detect.,,check with lifegaurd.... main thing is you are there to have a good time and so is everybody else..maintain a resonable distance ,be mindful of others around you and you should have no problem...

I hunt at high tide and low tide. One of them will be at a good time. If low tide falls in the middle of the day, I'll wait until the majority of the crowd leaves. However, if I'm fishing and not getting a lot of action, I'll hunt anytime during the day, but close to my rod holder. Who says that men cannot multi task.

One of the very popular beaches here on Lake Huron, I was coming out of the water at dusk while a teenage couple were just going in. I surfaced right in front of them. She screamed bloody murder!! I scared the heck out of both of them. LOL told them I was a harmless freshwater shark.

Anyway, video on why you should hunt the beaches when they are empty.

Have a great day all!!

I wait , usually I hunt early in the morning.

Cute video, love his coil control and technique!

Around here the only time the beach is going to be empty is in heavy weather, cold or at night. Night is not the safest. So you just try and give people some space and hope they keep their kids under control.....

I hunt early morning and head for home once people start making their way onto the beach. In summer I usually start about 3:30-4;00 am as it gets light here nice and early.

I haven't tried at night but judging from the empty beer bottles I imaging a few hang around till late.

im heading to Atlantic City this weekend . Im going to try a 6am. start. then around 6 pm. If nothing pans out on the beach the casinos are always giving money away.

That's hilarious SD , I bet you scared the pee out of them , and the video is funny as heck thanks for posting it!

Early morning or later afternoon I prefer the low tide!!!

I go when I can fit it in and when its allowed. Some places don't allow it during peak times. The best is a cold rainy day. When its mobbed...I play deaf first. Second I keep good distance. I water hunt only. I hate hunting when its mobbed. HH GL -Joe

I know this it's kind of late posting to this thread but here goes:

My rules for beach hunting is: get there early; usually at sun up. When the water cooler crowd starts showing up, and definitely before the Frisbee crowd ; I pack it in. Which usually gives me about 3 hours. For me that's enough. I know you can still find more and the scenery is nice, but I think if too many people with metal detectors start bothering sun bathers the county will run us off. So, I stay away from people, and even though I'm digging in sand I always cover the hole. Just my thoughts.

Digger
