Question about AT Pro

Salida

New member
I have waited to buy an AT Pro expecting that there would be problems here and there in the beginning and apparently, with the first bunch produced, there were some issues. The second bunch produced seemed to have problems. Now I understand that some of the detectors leak. Can anyone out there tell me if these issues have been fixed? I had thought about a new MXT but from what I can tell the AT Pro as it over the Mxt by a wide margin.

My first one had the falsing problem, second one leaked, third one I sent in 10 days ago for the upgrades( waiting for it to come back to me). I think the new ones coming out have the upgrades already( not sure). I would get another one in a heart beat if I could. It is a great detector. A few bumps in the road, but it will smooth out sooner or later. JMO

Salida,
If you get one with the newest upgrade, extended shaft and cam locks you should be good. They just came out with this version. Holler at me if i can help you with more questions or pricing.
Thanks!

I have one from the first bunch it did false, Garrett took care of that, no problems since. Also have one from the second run that I use for the water plus a back-up machine if necessary, works great never any problems. I did have an MXT PRO for awhile a short while, and in my soil the AT PRO will run circles around it.

I got 1 of the Second batch from Big Boys Hobbies and never had a problem.
I have only submerged it for a fast minute in about 10" of water.
He told me at the time of purchase his stock was good and I have no issues.

I have 3 AT Pro's. The first one I purchased new in May and it ended up having to go back for service. I purchased 2 more used ones from a guy locally and he told me both of them had been sent in for service. All 3 work GREAT!! I will be sending them in one at a time for the upgrades....but gonna wait until after this hunting season. Who knows....maybe by then they might even come up with a software upgrade....not that I think one is needed though.

Lots of people with good stories about the ATPRO, I have one of the first run units and have had nothing but trouble with it. First tiem it had the falsing issue, Garrett fixed it but created another issue with depth reading jumping all over the place rendering the unit worthless, this was with a coin placed on top of the ground that was cleared first, coin showed anywhere from 2 inches to 10 inches and sensativity had no effect. Mines back at Garrett now getting that fixed and gettingt he upgrade so I can get the added two year warrantee, think Im gonna need it with the ATPRO. Nice to see some customers using theirs but mine has been a $600.00 POS so far.

26cent,, I also had trouble with mine. Word for word what you described. This time I was upgraded to the new unit. I have used it a ton and it is a phenomenal machine. Send it in, (on there dime) and you will be happy I am sure. I came close to giving mine away at one point but now it is my go to machine, far ahead of my MXT any day.

Good to hear gregp, maybe I'll call Garrett and see if I can get them to upgrade my machine like they did for you. JUST REALLY FRUSTRATED WITH IT RIGHT NOW AND GARRETT HASN"T REMEDIED THE ISSUE. Can you send me your name, would be nice to reference a real person when talking with Garrett. Thanks, good hunting

You did not say if your depth reading were off in pinpoint mode or while you were swinging the coil over the target or if you were using STD or PRO modes. If you are pinpointing dead on the target and depth reading is bouncing all over then there may be an issue with the detector. Jumping around while swinging the coil is probably what it is going to do since it is constant motion in relation to the target. Also coins on top of the ground, dimes and quarters in particular are a problem since the signal is so strong but are easy to tell after you get used to listening to the sounds in the PRO mode.

Good luck when you get it back.

Jerry, depth was off in both pin point and during swinging of the coil, even at a slow speed, it did not matter if it was in PRO or STD mode, depth was off even when I detected something underground. I'm sure the AT was a bit messed up. Will update with the results once Garrett sends it back, thanks for the input though
