Question About a 6000 DI Pro Series Three

I'm just curious does anyone use this unit in the GEB MAX mode with any success. This would be one of the few detectors that could be used to discriminate with when using the analog meter in a non motion mode. Thanks Ron

I dunno but I'll bet Digger and Monte do and I'm curious too. The GEB SAT on the XL should be the same thing, right?

Silvernail, this is one of the older bluebox units.I haven't had much time to use this Whites detector.I'm very impressed with the air test on the 6000 DI PRO,but a run through my coin garden wasn't that great. The stock 8 inch coil is the only coil with this detector at this time.Anyway I think the old 6000 DI PRO could still produce some great finds in the right area. I don't have this particular model, but from what I have read, I believe that GEB Max was an all metal, non-motion mode that is reported to provide about 30% more depth. I've also read that running in the GEB MAX mode may cause the detector to act erratic at times. I would guess the GEB Max mode is a good mode to use when you are pinpointing or trying to confirm a deep target. You may be able to hear a better audio tone. But I doubt that there will be much positive movement of the meter needle.

The non-motion mode I use on my XLPro is the TR mode. However, the depth of detection is not good. At least not in the areas I have tried it. I had hoped that the 6.59 kHz Snooper or Shooter coils would allow me to slow sweep, using the TR mode, in some REALLY trashy areas. Unfortunately, about 2 or 3 inches is all the deeper I can get it to hunt with this setup. HH Randy

I just sold my Di Pro Plus as I "upgraded" to a handier old stock Xl with the gain control. Now I don't know much more about this stuff than my cat does. At my level of blundering around the only effective difference I notice so far is the gain setting is probably more critical than the old sensitivity setting, and the sweep speed is a little more forgiving. I have an 800 coil but so far prefer the 950 in open areas and found a gold plated baby ring 3+ inches in the dirt with that. I bought a pre-owned Sun Ray probe for this rig and it is becoming first choice for playfields and such. Never tried the GEB SAT on the XL or GEB MAX on the Di Pro but imagine it would turn up every BB and rust flake in the top two feet.

The 6000 Di Series 2 was "improved" upon by the Di Series 3 in the following ways:

Randy,The information about the GEB Max and TR Dis modes helps me understand this detector. The run through my test garden confirms everything you explained. Thanks Ron

Silvernail,The 9.5 coil is very good for general use,and I used it a lot for open field hunting, when I had a XLT. I use a inline probe on another unit and it sure makes life easier. Thanks for the information this will help when I get a chance to use this detector. Later Ron

Monte,The White's is a 6000/Di Pro the instruction audio tape states series 3 which is wrong. You answered a long list of questions I had about this unit. The operator's manual for the 6000/Di Pro is very vague. Thanks for the help. The weather here in Michigan. My wife just reminded me to grain the horse's.Ocala(Granddaughter of Seattle Slew) has her head stuck out the dutch door. Thanks again Ron

that is if your ground has any minerals in it then it will not get much depth or maybe none at all. Now if while waving the coil to and away from the ground(TR mode) you use the disc control to get no change in threshold then it will go just as deep as non-motion mode but once you move the disc control clockwise then you will lose a lot of depth in regular ground. According to Whites, TR on this model cannot ground balance and at the same time discriminate. In my ground, it was useless to use the disc control but only for ground balancing, it would not get any depth once the disc was turned up.
