Question about 5.75 coil

tsb

New member
I was wondering how much better the 5.75 coil would be for detecting very small objects?? I have a Vaquero with the stock coil and was thinking about adding the 5.75 coil to use in some areas that I hunt. I primarily like to hunt Civil War relics, but also enjoy hitting the parks and schools to dig some clad when I can't relic hunt.
A neighbor called me recently to look for a lost earring....it was a small diamond earring set in gold. I passed the stock coil over the matching earring and could just barely get a response in the all metal mode and nothing anywhere in the discriminate mode. Do you think a 5.75 coil would have helped here?
Thanks for any information,
Scott

Probably not, I know on the tejon the smaller coil lets you discern individual targets close together better than larger coils but does not get smaller sized targets than the 12x10 DD coil. I have found two ear studs with the tejon on disc. They came in as solid beeps in very low disc but I don't think they are diamond. Good luck hope you find it.
