questiion regarding the XL500

driftdiver

New member
G'day to all. Can any of the knowledgable people here tell me the difference in detecting capabilities of the (original) XL500 and the new Sea Hunter MKII? I own the XL500 and I don't want to pay to replace it if not necessary.

Thanks in advance for any help/info.

If your XL500 is the PI then there are a few reasons to go for the Seahunter

Seahunter runs on AA batteries. The XL 500 has a built in rechargable battery that costs a mint to have replaced.
Seahunter has an auto tune threshold. So you won't be constantly retuning from dry to wet sand. The 500 is manual tune.
The Seahunter has discrete discrimination which when mastered can provide good TID info.
The Seahunter is much lighter than the 500.
The Seahunter has inter changable coils.
Debateable as to whether there is much detection depth difference.
The 500 does have a nice belltone target signal.
