Quest: Detecting in the wash at a Salt Water Beach.

SaltwaterJim previously posted he was getting a lot of falsing in the water at a salt water beach with his CTX 3030, and was not sure if it would be able to replace his Excal.

GraveDiggerMax responded that his CTX is quiet in the wet sand and submerged, however in the wash it is not, and that he does not like that. He has stated on his videos that using the four tone setting is much quieter than the 50 tone setting. He also stated he feels the CTX 3030 is a great machine for many things, but it may not be a good water machine (and reading between the lines I think it may be due to the falsing in the wash area where he does a lot of detecting).

Has anyone that has used the CTX 3030 at saltwater beaches tried the combined setting with Auto sensitivity (set to -3 or whatever might quiet the detector down) to determine if it will run quiet in the wash?

I feel this may be a good detector for me but have not had an opportunity to try one. I will primarily be detecting saltwater beaches in Florida and need/want a detector that will run fairly stable in the salt wash.

Thanks in advance for any info provided.

Note: I am a new member here. I have spent many hours here but never joined until yesterday. I tried to figure out a way to PM GraveDiggerMax and SaltwaterJim but could not find a process here to do that. Thanks for your understanding.

It seems the PM feature is not available until you are hear a month or have made so many posts.

ive got it to run smooth in the wet sand and the water, the problem i have is similiar to maxs the wash and running water ie small rips in the water , still learning machine though hh jim

Thanks for the rapid reply Jim.

That is the one thing that has me concerned. I will be using my detector in the wash area a significant amount of the time. Just trying to determine if auto sensitivity and maybe minus three, used with combined, might reduce the falsing in the wash areas.

Thanks again Jim, and have a great day. HH

Auto +2 runs super smooth in every place i have tested it so far. Even at lower sens it still gets great depth. I set it and forget it myself. Stability is much more important to me that pure raw depth. I am looking for targets in trash others miss.

Mike ,you might try different levels in manual settings and see how that works out.

Being a fellow Florida hunter I am also interested in hearing about stability in the wash.
