keeping in mind that cannablism was also common among the Island natives and their "boogeymen" the Haidas, that was likely the remains of numerous dinners ;)

And go to the northeast point of it, you will find a cairn made of rocks there. Almost every one who has climbed there, has left their name in that cairn. Way back in the early '60s, I was a member of the Comox valley Mountaineering Club. One weekend, we climbed the Red Pillar [a mountain up on the plateau] and the glacier. I left my signature, such as it was, in the form of those silver dollar sized aluminum name plates. You used to be able to put a nickel into the machine, move a huge dial to each letter and each letter you chose, pull this enormous lever on the side. This imprinted your name on the disc.

I also spent large quantities of time digging in the old midden around 17th street and Anderson. Back then, it was rough territory and Courtenay proper ended at 20th Street.

Thanks for the trip back

Isn't it amazing how the old history follows the same patterns. Thanks for sharing the pics (beautiful) and the story!

On time and under budget is my motto! Not easy to do in Bermuda though, the license plates here read 'Bermuda - Another World' and they ain't kiddin'.:lmfao:

we are only about 30 minutes away and often take the boat around that harbour and area. Some mighty fancy shacks there!

I didn't know it until a few years ago. It was not bragged about back in those days I guess. :D

I am proud of it and wish I had more now :D Get a chunk of the Indian Casino money that is thrown around here in Michigan.

Every once in a while a construction site is stopped here for the same reason. There was a Mammoth found fifteen or twenty years ago.

There is much to learn from those sites

Math refresher time Sunny -
Great Grandma is full blood
Grandma is half blood
Mom is quarter blood
Royal is an eighth blood

I can see you haven't been practicing your fractions young lady.:nono:
Didn't you say you got Straight A's??:crylol:

a) an Englishman
b) a Chinaman
c) a Frenchman

If you said (c) you would be correct but I wonder about your dietary preferences. According to a poll taken over 100 years ago the cannibals felt that the English were too bland, the Chinese too salty but the French were nice and sweet - could be all that marinating in wine.

Don't ask me how this info gets into my head, it just does.

Cheers,

BDA:cool:
