hi

i like the mxt and the prizm v.both sound like good metale detectors to me.i am new allso to this hobby! wich one do you recomend?

I think that the MXT is a much better detector....
1: Depth
2: Ground Tracking
3: C & J Mode
4: Coil variety
5: Resell value
6: Relic Mode with Audio that tracks the disc..
7: Prospecting Mode
8: Variable Threshold
9: .......

It is by far the better detector than the Prizm V. Don't get caught up in some features, especially things like Tone ID. The MXT has far more to offer in the way of both features and performance.

The MXT also has a suggested retail $250 more so you might want to consider something a little lower-priced. I'd suggest tracking down an IDX Pro or an XL Pro, or even checking out the new Matrix M6. If you're interested in a Prizm V then it would seem you only, or primary, use would be for typical coin hunting applications and I would think the new Matrix M6 would be much better choice for that use than the Prizm V. It wouldn't be as far out of the retail price range.

The IDX Pro and XL Pro can be had, still new or 'as new' for a very good price and I would take them to the Prizm V or even the unproven Matrix M6 at this point, and use the savings to get a smaller accessory coil.

If you have use for the added features of the MXT and if it is in your budget, then it might make a good choice.

PS: You could be more specific in what the applications are, etc. I welcome E-mail at: MonteVB@comcast.net
