Quattro or Sov. GT

Hello notmycow.To help you we could do with a little more information about where you are going to use the detector, like parks beach gold country and how much experience you have with detecting. I used the sovereign XS for about ten years and was some of my best detecting time that I had then changed to the Quattro earlier this year and was happy with the results.

Hi, I am trying to decide between a Sov. GT with meter and Quattro for exclusive use on the wet sand of a salt water Florida beach. The price here is about the same. I have 15 years exp. and current use an MXT with which I have had great success in parks, old house sites and relic hunting.
Being transferred and I have no beach experience and haven't been to the ocean in more than 20 years. I intend to upgrade to a beach machine as soon as the wife tells me I can. The Sov GT is highly reccommended but the Quattro seems more like an MXT. Waterproofing is not an issue.

Hello Gage. After using the sovereign XS for about ten years I decided that I would give the sovereign GT a try hoping that there has been some improvement during that time. I was very disappointed as the only improvement was a slight sensitivy on smaller targets. I didn
 
Hi, thanks for the info. I intend to find a dealer once I am in Florida and swing both units. I have read the forums going way back in time and it seems both machines have steep learning curves esp. the Sov. GT. I have a feeling the MXT is not deep enough on the wet sand when compared to a Minelab. Should be fun to learn a new machine. Thanks, Gage
