quarters and bottle caps

After over a hundred hours on the Pro, I have noticed something. A bottle cap, actually any bottle cap, SCREAMS in your ears while a quarter, no matter how close to the surface, has the high pitched sound, but stays at a constant level below a scream. I have been detecting with this theary for 2 weeks now and you can tell the difference in sounds almost 100% of the time. Anybody else have thoughts on this?

1) I think you bring up some great points. Bottle caps have that crimped circumference on them, creating more eddies for the receiving coil, resulting in what you describe as "SCREAMS" compared to a quarter. That, combined with the iron audio function really help. http://www.garrett.com/hobbysite/hbby_at_pro_basics6_video.aspx

2) Another option is to switch to a concentric coil, which doesn't read bottle caps as quarters as a rule. Garrett has two sizes available. http://www.garrett.com/hobbysite/hbby_at_pro_searchcoils.aspx

3) A third option is to use the "STOMP-IN METHOD" where you literally stop on the ground above the target, which breaks up the halo on a bottle cap which will now make it read as trash (iron)

CoinDude, see my response in this recent post...........http://www.findmall.com/read.php?79,1587280...........regarding 'heel' method

Also, and this may work if BC's are fairly/moderately shallow and mineralization isn't too severe. And not on 'every' type of BC.
Get the center of the coil over the suspected BC. Then 'bob' the coil straight up & down over target. Alot of BC's will start to break up in audio and your ID numbers will drop about 20-25 ID numbers. A coin will only change about 5 ID numbers. Get some bottlecaps/coins and practice both techniques at home to get familiar with how these techniques work.
