After Blackie chased "pimp daddy" jewelery during the a.m. I had to have a little talk with her, and it must have done some good.

Blackie treed this 106 year :yikes: old well worn 1905 Barber Silver Quarter, our first silver quarter :clapping:. $3.07 in clad  and this 104 :surprised:year old Basket Ball Medal.

The back reads:

Senior High
2-16-07
KIM HENSON

QH I think that metal is from 2007? You know you have a slick talking AT Pro there. When she speaks I can tell you are listening with the amount of finds you are finding. Nice Barber quarter find. That is some great detecting QH. HH......Z

Ironically I've been researching that medal prior to seeing your post since both my sons questioned the date. I found it within 15 feet of the 1905 quarter and looking at it assumed it was from the same time period...the 07 being 1907 but I think you're right . since the company wasn't in business in 1907 :surprised:. It's heavy for its size weighing in at 28 grams. It was found where they tore down the old High School Gym in the late 1960's. They have since built another school on that site but its a "middle" school, not a Senior High It appears to be a weathered bronze and you have to wet the back to do any reading on the engraving. It was only down about 3 inches BUT the 1905 quarter was only about 3 inches down too. I figured that they saved the topsoil and put it back accounting for the shallow depth, and both items were in the topsoil.

Maybe I need to go bite the quarter.... it might be full of chocolate. Ironically I went back tonight after supper to the same spot, at the filly's insistance with visions of V nickels, IH's and more turn of the century silver, and ALL I got was pencils and $5.55 in clad.........so I guess the jokes on me.

QH first of all I have great respect for your detecting abilities and your finds. I also enjoy your humor the most. It is rare to find a strange person that is humorous. Thanks for that.
Now I looked in my junk box and here is what I found. It is pretty close and I think it is from the same company?
Thanks for sharing and HH.....Z

I have no "detecting abilities", I just dig where Rod Serling and "Blackie" tells me too!

The medals are similar, but different companies. Mine was made by PDU, Plastic Dress up, no date on it same spot as yours. It's apperantly some kind of Bronze molding. I went back this morning and put in another 4 hours looking for the rest of that roll of Barber Silver Quarters .............nope........guess it was a fluke............but I did find another basketball medal........In Jesus Name I Play. It has Psalms 34:3 inscribed on the back. "Let us exalt his name together" I'll get it scrubbed up and post it later with the other "finds de jour".
