Quality of the Fisher F-75

I've had my 75 now for 19 months and hunt at least 100 hours a month with it. As I have posted before, I have yet to experience the first problem of any kind with my F75. Obviously mine is very dependable and I am completly satisfied with it. The F75 is not built like a tank, but I don't pamper mine and nor do I want to swing a tank. I do know 4 or 5 others that swing the F75 and I am not aware of any problems they have had. HH jim tn

I have a very low number, pre-update model that I use regularly. Using Jim's reference, I do swing a tank in my Nautilus. Forget brush, it will go through small trees and forests.

I do not think the Fisher will do so. But it is not designed to be a Panzer or Tiger. It does, however, go through and do what I ask, which is not for cream puff machines.

Mine has not broken down. I have heard of some that have but I haven't seen one of those, all of which were said to be early models like mine.

The Nautilus is in a class by itself when it comes to out and out durability. You can run over it, I believe, and it will get up and fight you. But the Fisher more than holds its own in the thick brush where I send it.

Just my two pence.

Are you satisfied? Is this unit dependable?

And do you know people who fixed them after they broke down?

No, No, No.

I'm in the "verbal" minority here. Possibly because replying with poor experiences gets you treated pretty harshly.....

It's OK. to say what you have to say. I for one, like to hear all views. It is just some people have posted with really bad attitudes, attacking others. That's not cool.

I have a great working F-70 that runs smooth. If you are away from multiple targets, it runs quiet. I followed a gas line for a farmer with everything to the max and it ran quiet. It picked up that 2" gas line over 2 ft. down. It picked up cow patties. I thought that was funny.
If there are multiple targets it can get noisy. That is good in my opinion. I can adjust the sensitivity down. I have had mine for 4 months and so far so good.

I think most of us that frequent these forums and particularly those of us that have the F75/70 and have been following the posts on these detectors since their advent do realize there, in fact, have been some problems with some number of these detectors. By the same token, many of us also realize not every problem reported was in fact because a detector was faulty in some manner, but do to some users not fully understanding the "notch setup" or being able to adjust to the rapid target response they have, or proper cable connections and battery problems, to name a few. Again, this is not to imply that there have not been some problems, nor that anyone with a perceived problem actually didn't have one. If anyone has been following the new E Trac, they now know there have been some problems with it and that that detector is not for everybody, either. I can defend the F75 because I have a good one and know first hand what it is capable of achieving. Long term, though, will my F75 stand up like my cz's and some other brand models did? I truly don't know! It has served me well to this point, that I can say. I am with John 'n' W.Va and also want to know peoples opinions on detectors, good or bad. There is a better way to present opinions, though, then by "slamming" a detector, a mfg. or each other, IMHO, anyway. HH jim tn

It seems as if me to choose the F75. Othewise in fact most detectors sold from the first parties especially in Russia were with problems.

There was a thread on the quality control issues with the F75 not too long ago, but when too many problems were reported -- guess what! -- the whole thread suddenly disappeared as though it never happened.

had a problem with mine, the foam handgrip was spliting at the bottom but when i sent it in for the upgrades that was taken care of with the thicker foam. the o-ring used for weatherproofing around the display begain cracking and firsttexas/fisher sent me two new o-rings FREE! i did not have to send it in to have the o-ring replaced. i have had mine for about a year and 6 mos and there have been no other issues. i dont baby mine at all and it is holding up very well.
