Qualcomm 3.0 Chargers

The reason why I ask is the voltage it's a little higher then what's recommended in the user's manual.

3.0 amp 5V charging should not be a problem if it's a smart charger. But with lithium batteries you need to be careful as quick charging can create heat which Li-Ion batteries do not like and can be a fire hazard. It depends on the formula of the lithium battery Minelab used and what the max charge rate is. I fly RC aircraft and we use all different kinds of Li-Ion batteries, some can be charged at rapid rates while some can only handle 1C rate. However the old rule of thumb was never charge at a rate more than 2 times (2C) the mAh rating of the battery. So let's say it's a 1,000mAh battery we would not go over 2 amp charging. So long story short I would call Minelab and ask if not covered specifically in the instruction manual. I've been using a 2.1 amp Samsung charger on mine.

If the device you are charging is not capable of fast charge, then the Qualcomm 3.0 ports will just revert to a standard charge. The equinox is not capable of fast charge so if you plug it into the Qualcomm 3.0 port, it will not charge faster and will be fine.

There are little inline usb power monitoring widgets available online for less than ten bucks that show you real time as well as accumulated charge current. Pretty handy.
