Q on a silver braclet

Cheryl

I need to know what vid reading you will get on a silver bracelet......I found 2 identical bracelets yesterday minus a clasp on one about 5 ft. apart.....They say 925 Italy....I was getting a bouncey 30 to 35 with sens. at 80 and were probably 3 in. down.....The tone was what made me dig these....Thanks in advance...........Could these be junk

30's numbers sound too low for most of the F units conductivity range. On a 0-100 range, Silver should be high conductivity & alot higher than 30's I would think?? I get like 80's 90's on the T2....

especially bracelets. Depends on silver content, size, and how they are constructed. There is a huge swath on the VDI range where they might come in at.
Are your solid? Are they made up of a lot of small links? Are they woven? I have found a number of silver bracelets that read quite low over the years..and a number that read quite high.
Thats the nature of jewelery..................

might be because they were linked pieces that made it ring in lower.

I have a small solid silver native american bracelet. Weighs maybe a little less than 1/2 ounce. In air testing it, the VDI varys widely depending on its angle to the coil and distance from coil. Chances are, your bracelets are sterling. My VDI's read almost exactly like yours.

And yes, my bracelet is genuine sterling.

Yes F75, sorry about that.....large open links,,,appears to be a mans but could be used as a charm bracelet...thanks and I tried it with another silver bracelet that I have and got the same readings...Thanks all and I really enjoy all the find stories....I'll try to get some pics on one day.........:detecting:

im with Bill, hi to mid 80's for sure- silver jewelry always gets my attention in a big way - even chopped up, silver jewelry will really sing. CO

Kudo Bill I'm with you on the 80-90's for Silver on the 75 LTD. Possibly a piece of LOW junk near by, HHHHHHHMMMMMMMMM going to bury a couple of bracelets I found and see what they read, Cheryl could be right and we're missing something..

The number they stamp on silver jewelry represents the target ID number on metal detectors made in El Paso, TX.

Unfortunately jewelry manufacturers and artisans sometimes substitute inferior beeper brands for calibrating their work or don't even understand how to use a metal detector, hence wind up stamping a completely erroneous number on the piece.

PS: I would gladly have posted this on April 1 but the right circumstances hadn't evolved yet.
