Puzzled by .925

Hello everyone. Here are some pics of a weekend hunt in Texas with my buddy Lostpoint. I am puzzled as to why this .925 cross would come up under 32 VDI pulltab. I thought it was my MXT PRO but Lostpoint checked it with his and same result. Anyways i still got it!! lol Also i dont know if these are buttons, the eagle is about as big as a half dollar and the U.S. 101 about the size of a quarter. Oh yeah, the cross is stamped .925. Hope you like the pics

All nice finds. The small cross looks like it is made from one piece of silver ribbon and is probably not very thick, all factors that will affect the VDI reading, 32 VDI sounds about right to me. My guess is the 101 US button is from the 101st Airborne, but I can't find anything on it or it could be older and maybe the 101 Calvary, and the large one is an Army General Services button, likely a coat button. That Great Seal of the US design was used from WWI to present.

Wow that's neat! I know a little about coins but buttons and old relics, now that's a different story. Thanx for the info

Now those are really cool finds! :clapping: You had a spectacular hunt and I bet there's plenty more. Thanks for sharing and I think Larry is right about the items. Love them all. HH, Nancy

The areas me and Lostpoint are hunting are old and produce old finds but we are not hitting older coins. Surely silver coins won't ring up on 32 VDI and if so, I have alot more digging to do. We do hit alot of old wheaties so we are in the right places. Well HH to all of y'all

Yes, you're in the right place. A silver dime can hit in the upper 70's to 80 depending on how thin and worn they are. Quarters read around 86 and so on. Good luck and keep your coil to the soil! HH, Nancy

The big eagle badge is from a hat ussaly worn with a formal (dress) uniform and the 101 is probably a collar button worn on the collar of the formal(dress) uniform great finds HH
