Putting a Zagg protective screen on the Racer 2

Southwind

Well-known member
So what's the trick to getting a good fiton the Racer 2? I tried twice and wasn't happy with the fit of either.

Thanks

I thought I saw this asked somewhere, does makro have the exact protective screen they could sell? Maybe in packs of 5?

use the factory protective cover. trace it onto the new film and cut it out. spray a light mist of water on the screen and then on the back of the film after you take off the adhesive backing cover. place on the screen then use a credit card to squeese out the water. let it sit overnight before use. you will end up with a protective film which you wont be able to tell is even installed(no air bubbles)..

I tried using the factory cover to trace but it just rolls up when you try to trace it.

easy way to trace it is to hold it in place and then take a marker and run around the entire outside edge with half the marker over the edge of the stock film and the other half of the marker transfering onto the new film. do it on the backside of the new film(the adhesive covering). when done pull the stock film up and you will have a perfect outline to cut around. just make sure you lay the stock film bottom side up on the adhesive covering that way when you cut it out and flip the film over the way it sill be once installed, it will be orientated correctly. otherwise, you will end up with it not fitting correctly.

another option is to use scotch tape and tape it down going around the entire edge. you can then either trace around its edge onto the tape and then cut it out or just cut it out along the edge without even bothering with tracing

I had about 4 goes still didn't get it perfect it has to be perfect right :stars: its on there screen wont get scratched I can see the screen, some tiny bubbles like minute the screen on these things is probably worth less than the z%gg your shoving on there so I wouldn't worry to much, the screen flexes so its going to be hard to get a perfect fit as in super small bubbles !!

seriously though if you don't car just use it with the envro cover and if you want to sell one day get a screen off makro bet they don't cost much.

Would me nice if Makro would do what White's does, they make replaceable plastic screen covers. I think they're all of $5 a pop.
