Put the "Ole" GT on a diet today................

and she lost about a pound and the balance is great. Mounted the GT on a Whites upper, middle and lower shaft and it really made a difference in handling. Now when I shorten the cables it should help even more.

Looks great. Very nicely done.

You have an interesting collection of land and water detectors . How did you arrive at this current list?

Nice, minelab could learn a lot from Whites in the ergonomic department

They sure could use some help in the design department too. Now if we can get a Customer Service Rep.

and I not only water hunt but I used to hunt in competition hunts. I also hunt for Civil War relics and old coins in the Fall and Winter months. I probably have had well over a hundred detectors since I started the hobby back in 1975 and have finally settled in on what I have now.
I use the A.H. Pro backpacker and Shadow X5 for competition hunts. The Whites TDI and MXT are my relic machines in bad ground, the Shadow X5 water machine and Stingray II are my fresh water detectors and of course the Excals are for the beach and ocean. The GT is my all around machine for old home sites and the dry sand beach.

thats how mine is, minus the meter. whites makes a great rod, the handle & handle angle feel very comfortable and offers a good grip. One day Id like to figure out how to mount one of my explorers on that rod.

Great job. Don't know if you saw my thread (probably within the first 2 or 3 pages) on my journey to lighten up my GT. I'm using a Whites lower carbon tall man lower coil rod, homemade and lighter aluminum upper shaft, along with other details found in that thread. She's like I think 4lbs and 13 ounces, and that's with the 15x12 on. My next step is to drop 3.6oz off the coil by getting rid of the coil cover and using spray on bed liner. I may shorten my cables as the final touch.

n/t

I like you idea CH on lightening the load. Those people down under must have fore arms like Popeye. I just weighed the Minelab arm cuff and it weighs 1/2 lb which is absurd.

I talk to people and try and answer their questions.
