Put the 11" DD on my Omega 8000

I had been using my new Omega with the 10" concentric coil, just to get used to the machine. Last weekend (Sat) I put the 11 DD coil on. I had hoped to get to the beach, but that didn't happend due to the weather, so I had to settle for a trip to a park or two. I wasn't disappointed. In about 3 1/2 hrs. hunting I got` 45 coins plus a couple of junk jewellery items. I'm happy.

I've been using d2 for the past 8 days, and am very pleased with the results, but I am going to try d1 for a while now. Used d3 at first, but like d2 better. d1 appears (according to manual) to offer a bit more information. I'm very happy with the machine so far, and with the DD coil have recovered many coins in an area where I've used other detectors, many of them deep and most of them near other signals (trash). The soil is a killer, as it is an area which has been top-dressed with soils of diffferent types, which creates a matrix which makes it difficult for detectors to identify coins as well as they might ordinarily, in soil of one type. The Omega seems to handle it ok, but it too varies in its VDI...however, once you make allowances and are prepared to check out "possibles" as well as "probables", the coins just roll in. On my second trip there, I took a longer screwdriver with me, as the 6" I had been using was not long enough. It is an area where I cant dig holes, so am confined to probing and then prising out the target. Have not found any rings yet, but am ever hopeful.

It took me a bit to get used to d1 due to the talkativeness of the VCO audio but in all fairness I started right out with in in some very trashy sites rather than areas with less trash. Once accustomed to it I prefer it over d2 especially when hunting those older sites with iron in various sizes and states of decay.

the battery must be charged the best
I have a GP9.6 v 10.8 v after charging
as good as the batteries are fully ---Omega is then stable
weak batteries coverage falls
I fall when I change one line on the display !!!

Good batteries 9,6v

Are rechageable batteries worth trying with the Omega or are they just a waste of time?

Thanks for the reply. I put a question in on "ask an expert" on the tekneticst2.com site to see what their answer was. I found some 600mah Lithium Ion rechargeable 9v batteries I would like to try.

I go with the real thing I want power from start to finish

If the 600 mAh Lithium Ion rechargeables work they should be on par or even better than an Alkaline such as the Duracel Alkaline which is rated at 580 mAh.

Just heard back from First Texas that the Lithium Ion batteries would work fine. Since the Hitech brand can be recharged up to 600 times and have 600mAh they should save quite a bit of money in the long run.
