today and grabbed a few shots to show you we are starting to make progress. Most water gone, digging out a bank, but its nice and clean material... That stone sifter may never get used... There is a lot to fill in thought... But, we are doing it.. Even got the start gate cleaned off....

In my teen years we had a empty firing range nearby, it was acres of land,we would all be there on week ends jumping and riding our small motorcycles. It is still there but with a lot of new homes, I tried detecting the land mainly copper bullets everywhere, some as wide as 3/4 inch too. Once in awhile newcomers came and tried jumping, a few got hurt because they did not know how tall some of the bunker walls were. We even had many onlookers also watching everyone do the circuit jumps. I had only a 100cc but jumped it too the max, fun years. oj

anything that is attached to us. We own 2 homes and a trailer park attached to us. We used the extra land for parking on race days if needed and the rent paid for it all. Most of the neighbors don't care for the club because of the noise, yet they built the homes there long after we were in use. They take the free passes, keeping the land cut and free memberships if they want it but never get off our case. There not against asking for the club house for and event for free, but it never ends. Mostly its from about 3 jerks, 2 attached to us, one about 1/1 mile away who drive the cops nuts... Heck we even passed noise ordinance our selves to
94 deceibels, planted pines along the borders to keep noise down, major sprinkler system to keep dust to zero....... Our first 20 acres we purchased from a guy who was attached to the club land. We bought it for $8,000 bucks.......Paid it off in 2 years, then just started buying. We own his farm and home, and his sons home now also. It was a big gravel pit then....... Trailer park has another 22 acres, but also had 14 trailer homes. We wanted the land but not the park so over the years people pass on. We never replace the trailers and let them all attend club public fuctions. Most are very old but come and sit on the hill to watch the races and where can they live for $250 a month... Once they pass, it will just be one house that was also on the land. Nice place and good rental. We usually only rent to other bikers in the club now adays. We would like to hold a National AMA event there but the parking is the problem....Still not enough.. We compete with Southwick Nationals, but they are old now and want to give it to us. Thats a one time a year event, but brings in serious money. Even as American Leagion Post 338, the locals fight it because of the 2 days of traffice it would cause... So we remain like we are.... We came along way in 43 years...

where I ever found the time to work...... Seems like I have more to do now than then. ON the other hand I get to pick and choose which ones I want to do...
Gotta keep moving. I enjoy playing with the equipment so its not work to me. Althought at the end of the day, I know I did something....

Basicly I'm thankful I can still do it. We are trying to get the new kids coming in to grab hold of the reins but they are reluctant to do so. If they want the club to be there they better get with the program as they could never afford to pay someone to do it. We groom that track almost weekly. Few tracks do that.
And its hard to find guys that know how to make the jumps right for launching with out flipping them over. All they want to do is ride it. If they are the backbone, its not a strong one. The way the by-laws are written and the charter, if we sell it, it all goes to charity. No one gets any money out of it. When one joins the club they own part of it. Its a 350 member cap. We are INC. We did it to protect our selves to some degree. Lots of injury's in that sport. We have been thru the part where little Johnny got hurt but daddy signed and agreement where he can't sue himself as part owner. But the wife, not a member can for a broken kid or husband. Then there is the signed liability wavier now by the kid under 18. Not at our club, but another private one, the kid came back and sued his parents because he got hurt and had a limp afterwords. He sued because they allowed him out there and had a life time type injury.
That one is still back and forth and we watch that closely. CT is strick. No one under 13 can race here and if they do, parent must be present at all times.
If injured he can not even be transported unless the parent ok's it... Its getting harder and harder to put a race on. Motocross has built in dangers, an everyone is out there trying to pass laws to protect someone. If one flings oneself over a jump at high speed enough times, face it your going to get hurt....
Or just do flat high speed enough, you will get hurt, be it a bicycle, horse, jeep, running what have you.... Somewhere in there there needs to be room for common sense and your abilities..... We keep close eye on abilities.....and group them that way.... If we see a rider riding way over his or her head, we will pull them... Then we get the other type, great riders from other clubs who sand bag, and ride in a lessor class when its money prizes... We watch that real close....

OK, off to work... Reworking and electric fence line this morning.......
Hows that ring coming along for Alice ?
