Put a 10 x 14 DD on my two-five-oh..

just to see how the little Yeller Feller would handle it. Skillet and I went to a local park yesterday that has been hunted to death, but occasionally turns up an old coin or two. So I thought this wold be a good place to try the DD coil as there are large expanses to cover, with easy digging due to the recent rains. Unfortunatly, no deep coins were found, but the 250 handled the 10 x 14 just fine. Of course, the DD hit hard on the rusty bottlecaps, notching in as quarters, but I was digging up some DEEP ones. The ID was off, actual quarters notching in as dimes, but I was really just digging anything deep that was belltoning. The pinpoint return on the deep ones was just barely audible, but was dead on. I got a couple of hits that were probably just deep rusty iron that I never got down to. Should have gotten the relic shovel out of the car, but it was too far to go for a piece of rusty iron. The balance with the big coil on was actually pretty nice and did not wear me down too much. I wish I had some beach handy to try this set-up on. I think you could really cover some ground with it!!
I hunted that way for about 1 1/2 hrs and then switched to my 1500 with the 12" imaging coil, as I was tired of digging bottlecaps, still no deep old coins, but we ended up with a few good finds(Skillet had the best one, which I'm sure he will jump in and expound on) and had a good hunt in spite of the cold blowing wind and rain. After the rain drove us off, we headed for El Charrito Cafe for some Enchiladas Tejanos that really hit the spot and warmed our bellies and souls. Here's a pic of me, back at the car to switch to the 1500.
Happy Hunting all and be sure to hide all your eggs today!!
