pushbutton & bobbing don't work !

I wenr out to an old fair grounds yesterday early about seven A.M. I started off trying to use the pushbutton ground balance nethod. It just wouldn't work. No matter what I did it wouldn't, as soon as I'd push the pinpiont button and start to lower the coil the machine (CZ-3D) would screech (loud auto tone). I tried moving to different spots no luck. So I tried to use the Bobbing method you just couldn't even out the threshold hum. This doesn't happen all the time just once in a while. I just go to ny preset setting and go with that. Knowing that its costing me depth and coins!!! The ground wasn't that wet it had rained a couple days earlier? Help!! I've had the machine a couple years now (still learnin) New batts in her too. I blame the user (me) so I'm asking for you help. Don't say sell it NO WAY when its working right (or I'm setting it right) you can't beet my CZ-3D

Imagine your doing the procedures right if you owned for years, just might need a trip to the shop. I had that problem, but no screeching or the like , just wouldn't ground balance and came back from Fisher like new after they fixed same..Remember electronics instruments do fail from time to time , but on the whole CZ's have a history of working well for years without problems...
