Purchasing detector

I am new to this and I am very interested in metal detecting. My brother-in-law has talked me into it. My problem is saw and spoke to people that was using the Ecal II at the beaches and waist deep in water, I also spoke to people that have the E-Trac on the beach, but cannot put in the water. I don't know which one to purchase, I was thinking of getting both of them, I was quoted a price of $1000 for the Ecal II and $1100 for E-Trac. Is this a good price or am I being taken advantage of, would really appreciate a reply from you experts out there. Thank you, RD

Good price for the E-Trac and to much for the Excal. If I lived by the saltwater beach I would buy a used Excal. for about $800. or less.

Where would you buy one for $800 or less, do you know a place? I have been searching cannot locate anything less than a $1000 for an Excal II
