Purchased my first Whites detector yesterday.

Since I retired in December I have purchased four detectors. The M6 will make number four. I'm looking for the one that Im most comfortable with using.I never have used a Whites and thought I would give it a try.I purchased from this forums classified from a sponsoring dealer. I also purchased a 4x6 DD coil. I have a T2,a Vaquero and a Xterra-50.I believe I will use the Xterra-50 as a back up and sell the other two if the M6 works out. I have read a lot of excellent information on this forum and decided to try the M6. Most of my hunting will be locale parks for c/j .My M6 will be shipped Monday I cant wait. Thank all of you who take the time to provide great info.

Tony

I had my M6 one year now and it is a COIN HUNTING MONSTER.
My XL PRO is my top detector with the m6 .
You will LOVE the M6 Put as 5.3 coil on it and coin will jump out the ground.:clapping:

Set DISC just below preset 1 SENS is set to Tad OVER the preset mark.
I try to run my detector with the gain as high as the ground will let me.I WOULD USE MY AUTO TRAC AND LOCK IT.
NO COINS CAN ESCAPE FROM THE M6

I agree, I run mine flat out. I notice a little more depth using no disc especially in ball fields. trashy sites a smaller coil is much better. Have fun. I'm finding so many coins my back and knees hurt. HH:rolleyes:

Thanks for the reply's. I hope I didn't make a mistake going with the 4x6 DD . I see a lot of 4x6 DD vs. the 5.3 coil on this forum, it's hard to make a decision on a small coil after reading those.

But i would keep the Vaquero and sell the other detectors.
Here's why:

The M6 will beat the T2 for stability, depth and target ID.
You can't buy a small coil for the T2. I still think the M6 is twice as good for half the price.

The M6 will beat the Minelab for recovery speed and target response.
Still no small coil for the X-Terra either. The Whites is better made. The M6 has full automatic ground tracking, the X-Terra has not.

The Tesoro Vaquero with the 5.75" coil has extreme depth and target separation. The M6 with 4x6 DD separates a little better but is not as deep as the Vaquero with the 5.75 coil.

Some may not agree with me but i have used many detectors and FOR ME these two are best inland detectors next to the Troy X5.

If you have any questions e-mail me.

Yes the X-Terra 70 has manual AND full automatic GB and ground tracking, but bryanaw has the X-Terra 50 NOT the 70.

The X-Terra 70 is a great detector but NO small coil available.I would buy one again if Minelab would make a small coil for it.

Hey Andy , your M6 looks great with the MXT handle. Took my M6 out today for the first time. I'm very impressed. Took off the stock coil and put on the 4x6 DD , went to a ball field that I had been at last week with another major brand detector, searched the same area [lots a trash] for about an hour and a half and found some clad coins 10 quarters, 6 dimes , 5 Penny's and 1 nickle. I couldn't believe I missed all those coins last week. I believe I have a keeper. Haven't tried the 9.5 stock coil, is it any good ?

Cool Tony...looks like you get a feel for the M6 fast.
The stock coil is great if trash and ground minerals are not to bad.
I mainly use the 4x6 DD because i hunt around old houses for old coins and rings. The 6x10 DD coil is very good too. It handles ground minerals better than the stock coil and still separates well but not as well as the 4x6. Well... you have a great detector..just pick the right coil for the job and you can outhunt the "larger is better guys".

Let me know how you are doing in a few days,
Andy,NM
