Got the Minolta S414. Surprisingly well built with a nice lens. Will be posting some pics soon....
Still can't decide on a higher end camera...meanwhile..the Minolta will serve me well.

You'll be surprised what that "bang around" camera will do John. I have 2 cameras, one digital SLR and one "bang around" camera. I give up a lot of manual control with the "bang around" but I don't give up much image quality. I am still amazed at how nice the pictures come out from my little Nikon 4300. If you're anything like me you'll get hooked by that little "bang around" and be out shopping for for something better real soon. <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
 
I read a hint where someone said the default sharpening mode was too strong and he was right!!! Set it at low and lowered the contrast and BOOM!!!!
