Purchase Whites MXT?

realfast

New member
Hi,

I'm just starting and I am planning to purchase a White MXT ? of some sort next week. I was wonder if anyone can suggest the correct machine and the extra tools and such.

The plan is to use a multipurpose unit because I travel between beach and mountains. So gold and coins plus other stuff will be the object of my search.

I'm open to suggestions and ideas how to start doing this.

Thank you for your time.

Cordially,
Michael

I've had my mxt for several months now and I'll tell you I wouldn't want anything else it is one great machine.
I would suggest a small coil if you plan to hunt in areas that has tons of pull tabs and trash I have the 4x6 DD shooter and it works great at separating the targets.
I haven't been anywhere to search for gold but from what I've read you would need a double d style coil so for tight areas the little shooter should do a good job there too.
Haven't been to any beaches either but from what I've seen the stock coil works well there but you can always add new coils as you feel you need them if you travel a lot you can go to whites web site at whiteselectronics.com and do a dealer search and most likely there want be one to far from where you're at.
Someone will come in later and help you more I wish you the best and only other thing I would know to say is hang with the mxt because like any detector you have to learn it but when you do you want be disappointed.

Also if you're new to the hobby this is what I tell everyone starting is to please, please, learn the proper digging techniques there's several posts in the forum about this plus you can also do a youtube search and find a few videos there to show because learning this will help to save our hobby due to ones that don't take the time to learn and leaves holes all over the parks and places.
Not sure about the mew mxt pro but the video that comes with the regular mxt also shows a good idea of digging a plug the proper way.

Stock coil for the beaches and get a 6x10 for the gold in the hills.............

Get yourself a second coil (I recommend the 6x10), a good set of headphones, a good digging tool for the dirt ( a Lesche is mandaatory ), and a good pin pointer ( DX-1 if you have the $ or a Garrett for a little less ). Learn proper digging techniques BEFORE you go into a public area and then you're ready to just relax and enjoy an incredible machine. You'll be set.

Mike,I was in your shoes a month or so ago and

Howdy Realfast,
Ive only had my MXT for 4 months,
And for me it always comes down to "Just do it"
I bought the MXT,
Then I bought a 6x10 DD coil,
Then I bought a Pinpointer ( A MUST imho)
Then I bought" the MXT Edge" book
Then I commandeered my boys skateboard knee pads.
then I came up with usin my trap shootin ,shell hip bag,for trash.
i put a hammer holder on it to hold small estwing rock pick
pinpointer on same belt.
Some items took alot to find, Like the coil, Whites were out of stock, none on Ebay, none local.
finally found a dealer with a "few left"
The book wasnt all that easy either.
The Garret pro pinpointer also seemed to be in high demand.
It took some work and research, but i got er done,
Now, i have to , Just get out there and do it.
Ive been diggin junk/trash for a few months, with a 1944 era wheat pennie or dime here and there.
then recently, I found my first awesome find, a 1901 Barber Dime, out of the blue, in a campground.
I have never held a dime that old,, so for me , it makes me feel content ,that I put so much time and money, into getting this MXT.
I know theres more good stuff out there,
I know I have ALOT more to learn about my machines capabilities,
and I KNOW I have a Top of the Line, MXT that can handle more than I can give it.
So just do it, Youll be happy,
P.S. I also learned that I type too much,,gab too much..:sleepy:
LOL , welcome aboard
Dusty

You've already gotten the right machine. There are 5 things I would recommend and you'll be set IMO.
1) "The MXT Edge " by Jeff Foster, invaluable resource that I feel should come standard with the MXT.
2) A GOOD pair of headphones w/volume controls and limiter switch/circuit.
3) A GOOD pinpointer, In-line DX-1 is the gold standard but for a portable PP I would highly recommend the Garrett ProPointer.
4) An Eclipse 6x10DD coil &
5) A Lesche digging tool.
After that it's all just a matter of adding coils as you expand the types of conditions/sites you hunt.
This, of course, is JMHO
