Think I got it. I dug about a hundred pull rings and tabs tonite. It seems the tabs give a signal that changes tone quite a bit as you sweep over it - low to med hi, coins and rings are more stable as far as the tone. Is this what ya'll have seen? BTW I got two matching silvers- a 51 quarter and rosie, and two wheaties. Used the 10.5 and got the quarter, switched to the minelab 7.5 and got the rest (old baseball field). Let me know if this sounds accurate. Thanks- Could revolutionize my beach hunting!!

For me tabs always seemed to give a high chirp at the edges once in a while.... when you center over them and sweep tightly, they seem to lock onto the tab area. HH, Mike. BTW.... I have gotton a couple small gold items that bounced around a little, so be careful what you ignore.

for the most part if your talking audio the round tabs with tail will give one tone and another from a different direction.. the uniform square tabs may be closer however.. I think once you get the specific tone quality most tabs give off you can be safe ignoring them. too me gold gives a lower tone even if it reads fairly close to a tab on the meter.. I suspect that odd ball shaped gold might be wavery in tone also so I would still be wary of what you leave.. at least on beaches...the more you use it the easier the tones alone become the most accurate ID
