What is the recommended charge time, or max charge time. Any idea? Thanks
I run my Sov GT two days about 4 hrs each then charge for about 2 hrs. This is for the OEM Nickel Metal Hydride battery and the Minelab charger that came with it. The green light dims, but never goes completely out.
I do the same for my two Excals that I have converted the AAA battery packs to run the NiMH batteries. I run two days then charge 2 hrs with a smart charger from http://www.onlybatteries.com/ this is also where I get my NiMH batteries for the Excals.

According to the manual, the light will dim when fully charge. It will not go out.

It also states that it will take 12-14 hours to charge when the battery is completely dead when starting to charge.

Once charged, you can expect 15- 20 hours of use depending on the number of objects found and the amount of threshold used.

that you have to turn out the lights in the room to tell it is still lit at all. THe other one gets dim but is still easily seen even with the room lights on. So I guess it just depends on the batteries that are in that particular pack as to how dim the light will get. JMHO

You should test your batteries once in awhile. Harbor Freight sells the multi-testers for about $6. I do like Big Larry does, I hunt for two days ( 3 to 4 hours each day) and then throw it on the charger. I have found the battery pack will test at high 11s or low 12s before and come off in the 14s (after it cools down). That is a good pack. I use a Sun Ray Charger most of the time and the light will blink when pack is fully charged. The good thing about NIMH batteries is that you don't have to worry about when to charge them, just buy a tester and test them for a few times and you will know when enough charging time is enough.
