Hit a large hill with some large areas of snow.....the GTI 2500 was pulling dimes out at an easy 8 inches out of the snow :)

Check out our nickels, dimes and quarters. They rust :(

And I thought :usaflag: money looked bad when it comes up from the ground.

That's pretty bad...can you imagine those coins buried for several years? Our pennies are also ZINCERS too! But.......6,000 Zincers in bad shape still buy a gold ring

Look at the coins in the jar in my contest. I ran them through a coin counter yesterday and not one got rejected. Like my Daddy used to say, it's dirty work but clean money.

They fractionals may rust a bit, but you have had those lovely Loonies an Twonies for a long time now. Somehow, that seems to balance things out.

Even if they would use $.50 pieces. I was looking through my coin collection last night which I inherited from my grandmother. The US mint has tried numerous times to get us to use $.50 and $1 coins. I've got Walking Liberty halfs, Franklin halfs and tons of Kennedy halfs, but how often do you see them spent? I've got Morgans, Peace dollars, Ike's, Susan B.'s and Sacajawea's, but do I ever see them in the stores? For some reason Americans have an aversion to using coins greater than $.25.

They dont call the quarter the "Workhorse of American Coinage" for nothing. For whatever reason, there is a cultural tendency towards hoarding coins in America. This is likely from when coins had real value, unlike the tokens of today. I know many people who just wont spend the larger coins and this isnt just something for old folks - plenty of youngsters do it, too.

It all looks good to me!

Never gave it much thought as to why we seldom see higher value coins in curculation until I started working a till in a small market. Believe it or not there is really no slot in the cash registers for fifty cent pieces or dollar coins.
Even two dollar bills had to get slid under the till just because there was no place to put them in modern registers.
