Pulled a Sparkler Out of Horseshoe Today:thumbup:

I took the advice that was so generously given on this forum and applied it today with Excellent results! I caught the low tide at Horseshoe Bay and worked the Lane with only a brief sojourn to the Mine (which was dead). My first ticket of the day was a .925 Italy Silver Chain, I picked it up in the Lane mid beach which is an area that I don't usually hunt because the west side of the beach is generally the most productive. I couldn't go beyond the main beach today because the Bermuda Regiment was on exercises to the east at Chaplin Bay. It was overcast and breezy for most of the hunt and after 2 hours the wetsuit wasn't keeping me warm anymore, in fact I was feeling the chill as though I was naked.
I considered bailing out with only the silver chain and some clad but then I ran into a friend Audrey who was walking her dogs Tor (Great Dane) and Oscar (Terrier). It's hard to believe that she's 73 years old, she is a very nice woman.

We chatted for a bit and the sun came out and warmed me up some so I decided to head over to the swimming area and try a technique that a Mate had PM'ed to me. Sure enough it Worked! I heard a foil sound (that I normally don't bother to dig anymore) and dug it up from 10 - 12 inches down. There in the bottom of the scoop was my Sparkler - 18 small Diamonds (tested positive) and 3 small Rubies (can't test these with my diamond tester) in an older style yellow gold setting. The ring had been resized where the karat stamp should be so no markings but I would expect 18k based on weight, lack of corrosion and colour. The gold isn't the issue, as I'll have the stones broken out and the setting melted down. (Midwest can determine the karats)

Thanks to All for their support and advice,

Hay thats cool i found a 925 Italy it was one OZ WTG

You've probably cleaned up all of the shallow targets and need to get some depth to find the old gold.

bda, That is one fine ring, looks old. What is the weight on that necklace? The stopping and being friendly surely pleased the surf Gods, and that seems to always be the case. If you hadn't stooped to talk to her you may have taken one step in the wrong direction and that beauty of a ring would still belong to the beach. Nice pics. HH

Class find!!!!! Keep them coming so we can all hope! HH regards Nugget.:detecting:
