Pulled a gold ring out of the dirt

Stopped in at a old ball field we seen while driving.Got real lucky on this. Such a big field and 3rd item I dug. Its 1948 ,10k class ring.
 
Same day but earlier at a old darm house. Found 11 wheats 1 washington quarter and a 1866 2 cent coin that had been shot twice on both sides wt a .22. do you think I can fix it? lol

Gold! My favorite kind of find.....next to WL halves. A lot more common to find too. WTG!
 
Any method to ID the owner? Most guys of that era would give their left.....well about anything to get one of those back. Onus
 
Not really. I have the date. initials(first and last) and a G in the middle of the ring. The G I'm guessing is the name(motto) of the school. It could be any school anywhere in the U.S..

I do try to return rings any chance I get. Dont think it will happen this time.
