Proud of U.S Customs Service

as they send up at least Blackhawk helicopter after the small plane that was in the No Fly Zone of Washington D.C.
The No Fly Zone is 30 miles. The pilot of the small aircraft was in 25 miles of the 30 mile area when he did not respond to attempts to contact him by air traffic control. At 3 miles, from the Hill the pilot was turned back by the U.S Customs Service that had at least one Blackhawk in response. U.S. Air Force scrambled F16 fighters. I can only say the pilot was lucky the helicopters escorted him out instead of risking being shot down by the fighters.
My hat is off to the U.S Customs personnel for their swift action.
(Makes me proud to have been a Customs Agent (Exempt) back in the Air Force in the late 70s.)

I was a cross trained customs officer for Drug intradiction. Our unit was out of Texas. Their shining star was a specially outfitted Lockheed P-3 Orion turbo-prop with radar capabilities that would knock your socks off! However, I never had the honor of flying with them, I was proud to be connected just the same.

as there were no names mentioned when I read it and it did not say anything about the fighters firing flares. I did say that Black Hawk kelicopters (more than one) escorted the plane to the ground.
Very interesting indeed.
