Protective Spray to use on EXCAL Coil

What brand of protective coating works best without interfering with the performance of the Excalibur Coil in place of a coil cover?

I have been using DUPLI-COLOR brand trunk bed liner for years, but i imagine a few coats of good high gloss exterior acrylic paint might do a good job because it is more flexible. sam in ms

I used Rustoleum spray on bed liner on my friend's Excal and also on my 10" and 15x12. So far all of them are holding up well. I tested the stuff to make sure it didn't contain zinc (a rust inhibitor) or some other minerals/metals that might effect performance. If the coil is new then like Neil said a while back it might be a good idea to scuff it up with sandpaper and then wipe off any finger oils/dust. I didn't do that on mine and so far they've held up great but then again I'm not water hunting every day and scuffing through sand all the time. My main reason to use it was to drop some weight. The stock coil cover is 2 or 3 ounces. I think it's 3.6oz on the 15x12 and without the cover it weighs the same as the 10" coil with it's cover still on.

I use Rustoleum. Same as Critterhunter and have had a problem. Holds up great on the beach no worries with water and sand under the coil cover.

muggsc,
what was the problem you encountered? I'm curious before I spray this on my coils.

Sorry.. brain freeze I guess. I meant to say I have had no problems whatsoever.
Thanks,
