Protective Lenses

OK, so I just got my ctx last week, but I've been reading the ctx forum for a while now. I've noticed people talking about putting a protective lenses like for a touch phone on them. My first question is, do they come new with one? Because mine has one on it right out of the box. I can see air bubbles under it. My next question is what phone cover is sized closest to the ctx screen?. Thanks

All have a protective cover on the screen out of the box. I think most people are looking for an anti-glare screen protector. A good one would be a Zagg iPad cover. They are durable, and big enough so you can cut them to size.

Nushield makes one cut to fit . Go to their website, click on order, select Minelab, select CTX3030.
Two for $15.

The one that ships with your detector should be taken off. That thing is junk. Just to remind you that any plastic film that is put over your screen will probably not stay attached in the water. I would hate to see people spend big bucks for a Z--g cover and have it float away.

I posted this about a month ago.

When I look at that link it appears that they are a cut to fit.
Unless I'm missing something..
Really hate trying to cut something to fit..

I was at DeMarco detectors on Friday he showed me a cover it looked real nice. I had to send my ctx back to the factory for a defect. I made one from an I pad cover if Minelab replaces the viewing unit I will purchase one . He did not have a price yet but it shouldent be too much. He is a sopnser on the ctx forum.

Nushield!!!!
Definately the biggest waste of money I've ever spent...
Neither piece would adhere to the surface..
Portions of it would but the biggest part never would allow it to stick...
Yes I followed the directions to a T....
Nor was Nushield willing to refund my money..
Sending me another package which I doubt I will even try...
Very disappointed...

Some of the covers probably do come off in the water. I have used the Z--G since I had an XS. I now have one on both my E-Trac and the CTX. I have had the CTX submerged in the water, and that particular protective film doesn't come off when in the water, it isn't a static type film. Since I am only trying to protect the clear display, I cut down an iPhone size shield for the CTX display. I haven't tried the Nu Shield so I don't know about them, but from what I've read they sound good.

I had just logged in here to respond to Goodmore with the same thing that C&RHunter did. I have had the CTX underwater for hours numerous times, even laying it in the rapids next to me while digging a target and the Z--G is hanging on just as tight as the day I installed in...
