Protecting the Detector

I had to make a sudden maneuver to miss having a" head on" collision. My Vaquero went flying, took a good hit and needs to go in for adjustment...I see that Tesoro has a carry bag to keep a detector in.....Padded material....Does anyone use one? What are the pros / cons of the bag. better / worse products? Has anyone seen them at their local dealer.Always prefer to buy from a dealer or individual when I can. Many thanks for your input, cordially Nad.

Nad,
I have three hard cases with sponge foam inside. Need to take the coil off and take the shaft parts apart to pack. When I go on vacation, I pack the detectors. If I am just going local, I lay them assembled, ready to hunt, in the back of the hatch-back ... sometimes I wrap a jacket around them. I have thought about something like a gun rack for detectors but haven't done anything about that.
Sorry to hear about the mishap but glad to hear it wasn't a head-on.

Nad, I bought the best one that Kellyco had to offer. It was expensive but I wanted one that had a full length carrying strap. I could have gotten a much less expensive one on ebay but my account there is all messed up and I can't get it fixed. But that's another story. Anyway, since I don't drive I carry all my gear in it which makes it a little heavy but it is the best way for me personally. Unfortunately neoprene is not waterproof and if caught in the rain moisture will soak through. I had to learn this the hard way, so if you are going to use it this way you need to be aware of this and have extra protection to wrap your detector and extra coils inside it.Aside from this it works fine for me but to each his own. Hope this helps a little.

TVR, thanks for the input".Head on "would have been my fault, turning left. Way after dust, night vision problems, and didn't see black car, no lights, dark background. Rather than waste time, am going to post for a carry bag, buy one or two and go from there..Had a solid case with the XB Fisher, nice, for carry on, but a pain locally.. Have a much more interesting problem to get your ideas, and experience cooking on..Need to grab a few gold coins first.. Cordially Nad

I use one. I was toting my Vaquero through thick, stumble woods and bramble just today - not a scratch on the V.
Mine is like a thinly padded rifle case. I suggest you get one or two.

a metal detector IS a "delicate" electronis instrument and the padded vinyl bag gives it protectoin from bumps and bangs!..a excellent investment..generally around $30.00!..all dealers sell them!
