Protecting my new Vaquero

phil....

New member
Hi Tesoro users and I have a question about protecting my new Vaquero.

Has anyone got the Tesoro carry bag like the one below

It looks ok and I can pick one up on (Edit) here in Spain but does it give good protection to the machine, is it padded well and ok for throwing (not literally) in the back of the car?

Or is there something else you use to protect?

Many thanks

Phil

Some people use gun cases. Let me know how the quality is on that Tesoro bag. Especially the zippers!

I think there good to keep dust and dirt out and some minor scratches. Traveling in a vehicle keeps it from rolling around. But for protecting from heavy blows no good. I bought a Whites cover. Cut the end off and added 18 inches of cloth to it. So I wouldn't have to collapse the detector every time works great.

Hi Phil, Years ago when they were still available at Wally World($19 here in the states) I bought a Bow(archery) bag (1/2 "or sometimes3/4", foam lined) and simply cut the width down for a bit tighter fit and then sewed the zipper and all back on for about as good a Bump Protection as you would want. It worked great and as I took more detectors when I hunted, I modified a few more bags. If the plastic zippers ever foul, which they will sooner or later, just buy a good long metal zipper if available, or use 2 shorter,or even one will do but make sure it leaves long enough opening to load detector from one end, and replace the plastic one. If I can sew good enough anyone can! Trouble is now those bags are hardly available anywhere that I know of. They were too good a deal and likely hurt sales of the so called better bags and cases, so they quit making them.Once in awhile I see one on ebay and a few of the same ones are still being made , but with changes in style or added pockets etc. and priced way out of sight to be doing a mod on.. Makes a great bag though when I have it jammed into the back of my SUV with 7 or 8 of my buddys detectors.HH, Charlie
