prospecting mode for relics

Has anyone tried prospecting mode for relics? I have heard there is quite a bit of extra depth in prospecting, also what about highly mineralized soil? thanks.

Prospecting mode is essentially all metal with no discrimination which should give the most depth, but might be irritating to use in a site with much trash.

Pinpointing does not work in Prospecting Mode. It is part of the circuit that gives it a bit of an extra boost. Use the 90 degree alignment or toe and heel to find your target. You will just get a percentage of iron content. I found 4 gold nuggets with it in NV and I also found a Lithium nugget and a Copper nugget. All gave a 10% to 20% reading.

I thought I read in Mr. Foster's book on the MXT that when in Relic mode the All Metal "Prospecting Mode" was working simultaneously. I would give it a shot. I have found plenty of brass cartridges of various sizes hunting in the "Relic Mode" but have not hunted for relics/coins in the all metal.

I have tried nugget hunting in all metal and the machine is deep on iron in this mode in my experience.

On that note a follow up question for arizonaames. I'm curious about your nugget hunting success in Nevada with the MXT. I also hunt for nuggets in Nevada but have not found any with the MXT. How big/deep were your finds? and how were you set up (large/small elliptical etc). I get a bit of falsing with my large elliptical in all metal but not the other modes. I've used other machines with success on nuggets including the GMT; old Lobo; GP-3000.
