Pros and Cons of CS vs. Edge?????

Someone who has used both, let me know which you feel is the better machine in trashy plowed farm field searching old coins.
I've tried so many machines to find they aren't what I was expecting. Trying to avoid the same mistake again.
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Hi Bill,

Sorry I did not answer your PM earlier! For plowed fields IMO the Edge is the better of the two. The Edge handles the uneven ground much better! It may false a bit more on some iron than the C$ does in those conditions but at the same time it picks up more good (non-ferrous) targets. The iron falses are easy to handle as they hardly ever repeat when reswept. If you are after coins only leave pulltabs notched in as those signals need to be reswept and checked out further. Some are going to disagree with this statement but, my experience with the T2 and Edge in plowed fields shows the Edge to be a very close contender in its ability to pick non-ferrous targets out of areas with lots of iron.

I see that FT is running a special on the C$ for $550.00 which is $90.00 less than the Edge. Thats a screaming deal because in its element the C$ is one truly amazing machine. But for plowed fields I'll take the Edge!

I had a feeling that might be the answer but wanted some expertise on the two. I'm just getting tired of buying a machine to find it wasn't what I needed for my type of hunting. Just hate to spend more for the Edge than a C$. Any idea if the Edge will be going through the same changes shortly?
Thanks Bill

Bill,

At $639.00 the Edge is at a disadvantage to the likes of the ML X-70 which had its price lowered to $699.00 with a second coil. The 70 also has more features. I think (my opinion) the Edge would sell better with a second coil or with the price lowered to under $600.00. Perhaps FT should try and match ML's price on the X-50(?) but, that could be a hard nut for them to crack with the high overhead of the "old" Fisher. They might have to eat a few machines price wise until they can get manufacturing costs down on new production runs. I certainly would hate to see two good machines disappear due to bad past business practices.

Owns Bounty Hunter, The Teknetics brand and recently purchased Fisher. That is why you are seeing these new great products coming out. They are spending the $$ on R & D to produce new machines.

Any of the sponsoring Fisher Dealers will either have the C$ in stock or can get one quickly from the distributor.
