propointer question

I received my Garrett ProPointer last Tuesday and have not had the opportunity to try it out except in tests at the house. Really works good and I look forward to using it in the field. My question is: Can you use something like this like you would a pocket probe? Will it scan coins hidden in old books like the pocket probe?

Yes sireeee - it's a pinpointer.
[added] if your referring to the Uni-Probe, it's not the same detection distance. To increase the ProPointer distance, when it is turned on, take a metal item (penny) and hold it against the housing near the battery end. I hold it with the thumb against it. Then slowly slide the penny toward the tip till it just beeps, then just back it off till it just goes quiet. When I do this, the penny is nearly to the LED light. Now the detection distance is increased.
Be sure your battery is good.

Also, within a certain time limit, the longer you leave it turned on the deeper it will detect. Time limits may vary from unit to unit.

If your scanning a lot of books then buy a Sniper coil. Use it off of the rod in your hand. This should go pretty quick. Plus it could detect several books at a time.
