ProPointer dilemma

New member
I love my ProPointer but constantly have a problem with dirt and mud getting into the audio ports. I have been using a toothpick to clean them out after every hunt but now the volume has dropped. Has anyone found a fix for this problem.
Thanks
Chuck

I have put camo duck tape around mine and never had problems after that. It gets dirty and i wash it without a issue.

I did a clear heat shrink mod on mine and purposely cut a slight slit at the speaker opening to hear, as it gets really quiet after the shrink. Snazzy finish to the PP. There's a seller who I bought my skins from, specifically made for the ProPointer. Lots of skins in the deal. martin

Thanks Martin,
Could you give me the details of where I can order these skins?
Thanks

Funny how different people see things. I'm just the opposite from you. I'm still trying how to mute mine completely. I go by the vibration and really don't like having a speaker. I had one of my Propointers in to Garrett after I drowned it and asked if they would disconnect it, but it came back with speaker working. I'm not complaining as they actually just sent me a new one. It just doesn't make sense to have something that beeps when you're wearing headphones. I figure if I'm hunting public places, I don't want to be an annoyance to others by beeping and buzzing and being a nuisance.

Ha! :lol:Yeah, me too! I plug up/tape up the speaker and /or keep my thumb over it because that high pitched beeping really sparks peoples curiosity (especially kids) and can be heard from a good distance. When people hear it they come over and start asking stupid questions and wasting my time. :veryangry: Ha-ha.

[size=large]Dito to BCD and Metalhead on their comments. i also have sever hearing los but love the vibration of the Garrett. i put Bright yellow wiring tape around mine. was having the same problem of dirt in the speaker slits. still has a slight beeping but i rely on the vibration.

I have a sever hearing problem so the tape over the speaker isn't an option.
I'd like to make the dang thing VIBRATE LIKE THE WORLD WAS COMING TO AND END,
but don't know how to do that.
